One-Day Workshop on Sunday

Come DISCOVER, EXPERIENCE and LEARN 

JAPANESE CULTURE in a single day!


Join us for a day of Japanese culture lessons including flower arrangement (Ikebana), authentic tea ceremony, Japanese sweets making (Wagashi), traditional Japanese dance and traditional music instruments. All programs are suitable for beginners and you can learn under a casual and relaxing environment. Hope you will enjoy this unique and fun event.

 

What you can try?

  • Attend authentic tea ceremony (very basic and casual style)

  • Learn how to make Japanese traditional sweets (Wagashi)

  • Listen to and play Japanese traditional music and instruments

  • Enjoy Japanese traditional dance show and take a dance lesson 

  • Take a Japanese-style flower arrangement (Ikebana) lesson

There is a traditional Japanese-style building in Heisei Garden of  Gyosen Park.  (Nishi-Kasai st.)
Surround yourself with traditional Japanese culture by experiencing 
an authentic tea ceremony and other events.

 

Gyosen Park is stretching across 30,000 square meters including

Heisei Garden (Japanese style garden) , Genshinan (Japanese-style building), Family Zoo and play area. You can enjoy all area in a day.

Please be noted that Tea Ceremony has two different program, "Guest" and " Host".

Nihon Buyou (Nichibu) is a generic term including collectively various kinds of "Japanese traditional dance"  time-honored through the ages.
Dancers perfome wearing "Kimono", traditional costume with "Sensu", traditional fan by their hand.

Attendaces will have lecture about Nihon Buyou durig the early part of time. Will experience dancing by yourselves wearig casual Kimono in later part.

Our workshop method today is three steps. We will look insight into Japanese culture from Temple. I will navigate you all, and we will do some exercise with small quiz/ quests about Japanese culture.Then, we make up small group for further discussion about Japanese mystery.

We will demonstrate how to make Higashi, one type of Japanese sweets, useing several wooden forms. You can try to make it, but, we are sorry that you cannot have it then and there because of the venue's rule, unfortunately. However, we will provide a few Higashi as your souvenir and you will try to create a small box for bringing them. It would be great for us if you can feel something Japanese sense through the tiny traditional sweets.

Ikebana is a Japanese traditional flower arrangement and Ohara is  one of the major Ikebana school. This class provides you Ohara style arrangement for beginners. Enjoy the class!
